The second daylight shooting in a week shakes Kumasi's Asawase.
Another guy was shot dead in broad daylight at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi’s Asawase constituency, making it the second deadly shooting in the area in a week by unknown gunmen on motorcycles.
The assailants, who were apparently on a motorcycle, shot the unidentified man as he was preparing to enter his vehicle near OTEC FM in Sabon Zongo, close to the Manhyia junction.
This is the second shooting incident in less than a week in the Asawase region by unidentified assailants holding AK-47 assault rifles and riding motorbikes.
The first deadly occurrence happened on July 22, 2025, at Asawase F-Line near the Community Centre, killing Abdul-Malik Azenba, the Kusasi Chief in the Ashanti Region.
The attackers shot and killed the chief at his home, also with an AK-47 rifle.
There have been no arrests made yet. The incident on Friday has heightened dread and terror among Kumasi residents, particularly those in Asawase and nearby districts.
A large police presence has been deployed in the area, as a manhunt for the criminals begins. Police found empty shells from the crime scene, confirming that an AK-47 weapon was used in the attack.
