England vs Italy: England 2-1 Italy: The Lionesses come from behind to reach the Euro 2025 final
England, the reigning champions, staged another incredible comeback to reach the Euro 2025 final with a last-gasp triumph over Italy in extra time.
Michelle Agyemang, a teenage attacker, kept England in the tournament by coming off the bench to equalize in the 96th minute of normal time.
And, with a minute remaining in extra time, fellow substitute Chloe Kelly drilled home the rebound after her penalty was saved, sending a delirious England into the final.
It was a fantastic finale to another exciting evening in Switzerland, as England’s substitutes stole the show once more, and Sarina Wiegman’s team refused to give up on their title defence.
Agyemang’s fairytale story continued as the 19-year-old scored her second goal of the tournament, this time from the bench, drilling the ball past goalkeeper Laura Giuliani with precision and poise.
Barbara Bonansea put Italy ahead in the first half, but Wiegman relied on her trusted bench for creativity, which delivered.
Wiegman will seek to win an unbelievable third straight Euros title as a manager, while her England team is in its third consecutive major final – and they have taken the scenic path to get there.
They will face the winner of Wednesday’s semi-final match between Euro 2022 runners-up Germany and world champions Spain in Basel on Sunday at 17:00 BST.
