Daddy Lumba candlelight: Ghanaians celebrate Daddy Lumba candlelight vigil night.
Ghanaians are scheduled to gather at Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, August 2, for a candlelight celebration honoring the late iconic highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba.
The event, organized by a group of music lovers and fans of the singer, aims to commemorate Lumba’s life, legacy, and enormous contribution to Ghanaian music and culture.
According to organizers, the candlelight vigil will include a live band performance of some of Lumba’s most popular songs, poetry recitals, and tributes from fans and fellow musicians. Participants are invited to wear black and bring candles as symbols of peace, love, and long-lasting adoration.
The event is intended to commemorate the late music star and express gratitude for his decades-long influence on the music world.
Lumba, whose career spanned three decades and included countless hit songs and prizes, is still one of Ghana’s most prominent and respected musicians.
The vigil begins at 6:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
Daddy Lumba died on Saturday, July 26, at Bank Hospital, following a brief illness.
