Thomas Partey faces fresh rape charges as court date set for March appearance
Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape, according to a report by The Telegraph, in a development that intensifies the legal case already hanging over the 32-year-old.
The Crown Prosecution Service has authorized the new charges, adding to the existing allegations he is contesting. Partey previously pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault when he appeared before Southwark Crown Court in September last year.
The alleged offenses are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022, during the period he was a first-team regular at a north London Premier League club. He was formally charged four days after leaving the club at the end of June, following the expiry of his contract.
Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 13 March, in relation to the latest accusations. He remains on bail and is due to stand trial on November 2. Bail conditions permit him to continue his football career but require him to notify police at least 24 hours before any international travel and prohibit contact with the complainants.
Now playing in Spain’s La Liga with Villarreal after signing as a free agent, the midfielder continues to be involved with the Ghana national team. Ghana are set to face England, Panama, and Croatia at the 2026 World Cup in June.
The case remains ongoing, with the charges yet to be tested in court.
