'I Ain't Never Looked Back': Bow Wow Credits Jay-Z for Influencing His View on Credit and Financial Literacy, but Fans Have Doubts
Bow Wow is studying financial literacy from musician Jay-Z, one of hip-wealthiest hop’s moguls.
Bow has been in the rap game since he was 13, but it wasn’t until recently that he realized the value of having both financial wealth and a good credit score.
“We need start teaching the children about credit and how essential it is early,” the 34-year-old remarked in an Instagram Story on Tuesday, Nov. 16. “It’s wonderful to have cash,” he said, “but with good credit… The world is your oyster, man! There’s nothing like looking at all three scores and seeing that you’ve got a 730 or above!!!! Understand the significance of excellent credit! “Believe in me.”
Bow, whose actual name is Shad Moss, also stated that his new viewpoint is due in part to the pearls provided throughout “The Blueprint” rapper’s 2017 album. “It’s impossible for me to lie.” I got on my shit because of JAY-4:44 Z’s record, and I ain’t never looked back.” The idea of generating generational wealth and familial legacies of financial freedom is a common theme throughout the ten records.
Around four years ago, the “Let Me Hold You” rapper’s effort at flexing on social media went horribly wrong, leading many of his fans to doubt his financial situation. Bow Wow was discovered while making it appear as if he was chartering a private plane when a fan captured a photo of him on a normal trip, not the private jet he’d just uploaded online. The incident sparked the #bowwowchallenge, in which followers mocked the rapper by posting images of themselves flexing assets they didn’t have.
However, maturity can come with time, and in this case, the rapper, who has two children and plans to retire from rapping, may very well be one of them. Despite this, his admirers were divided over his stance on credit being king over cash in the bank.
“This is why celebrities may be wealthy while fretting about their bills. One guy commented, “Getting s—t off credit and loans.” “Ehhhh…good credit is great, but nothing beats cash.” Others added, “This thinking will eternally keep us back,” and “The first thing he stated I genuinely agree with.”
